Authorities have temporarily shut down a busy roadway after a fire at a recycling plant in Edinburg.
The fire was reported at the Edinburg Iron & Metal facility off West Monte Cristo Road late Tuesday afternoon.
The blaze started around 4 p.m. after a machine used to crush cars caught fire.
The pile of cars was the size of a small house, according to authorities.
Edinburg firefighters responded to the call.
Fire Chief Shawn Snider said all four of their fire stations responded to the call.
A total of 12 fire trucks and all resources were used to contain the fire.
Authorities shut down eight blocks of West Monte Cristo Road between U.S. Highway 281 and Salinas Road.
No injuries have been reported.
