Challenger Ricardo Rodriguez takes the place of incumbent Rene Guerra as the District Attorney for Hidalgo County.
Guerra loses to Rodriguez with 16,474 votes.
Rodriguez totaled 29,172 votes from the primary election.
The race for the district attorney's race was described as perhaps one of the most contested in the Rio Grande Valley.
"I hope that my opponent won't be corrupted by the power because it can happen easily," DA Rene Guerra said in an interview with Action 4 News.
