Results are in for the preliminary round of the UIL 3A State Marching Band Contest.
Unfortunately, none of the bands from the Rio Grande Valley are advancing to the final round of the competition which is being held at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
There were a total of 4 bands representing the Valley, Rio Hondo, La Grulla, Port Isabel and Hidalgo.
There was a total of 21 bands in the 3A competition.
Tuesday morning 5A bands will begin their round of the competition, which will also be held at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
There are six bands representing the Valley, they are Brownsville Hanna, Brownsville Lopez, Donna, Harlingen High, Harlingen South and San Benito.
The first band to take the field will be Harlingen South at 7:30am, followed by Brownsville Hanna at 8:45am, Harlingen High at 11:30am, Donna at 3:30pm, Brownsville Lopez at 5pm and San Benito at 6pm.There are a total of 38 bands, only the top 10 will advance to the final round.
Qualifiers for that portion of the competition are expected to be announced on Tuesday around 6:30pm, with performances set to begin at 8:15pm.
