RGV breaks dry spell

After weeks of nothing but sunny skies, the Rio Grande Valley finally saw some rain Saturday as some tropical moisture made its way across the Gulf of Mexico and into south Texas.

With a rainfall rate as high as 2 inches per hour, some portions of the valley saw as much as 2 inches of rain.

The recent rains aren't expected to make an impact on drought condition but the clouds and showers will keep temperatures at or below normal through the end of the weekend.

Overnight rain showers are possible but the strongest showers are expected to wind down before sunset.

Dew point temperatures will be higher overnight due to the added moisture in the region.

More rain is in the forecast for Sunday and Monday before drier air moves back in next week.
