After 2 hours in Executive Session, Rio Hondo City Commissioners decide to take no action against City Manager Hipolito Cabrera.
An Exclusive 4 Investigation revealed last week how he omitted on his July job application that he was twice convicted for driving while intoxicated, according to results on a Texas Department of Public Safety criminal history search. The omissions should have voided his chance at the job and Mayor Alonzo Garza was angered his background passed unchecked.
"The commissioners, somebody dropped the ball on this," said Garza. That's not all we uncovered. Turns out no background checks are done on city workers in Rio Hondo. The mayor promised the community changes, but in a majority vote in Tuesday TMs meeting, Cabrera keeps his position.
