Rio Hondo teen charged with shooting 11-year-old with BB gun
A Rio Hondo teen is facing criminal charges after he allegedly used a BB gun rifle to shoot an 11-year-old boy several times in the back.
Rio Hondo police arrested 17-year-old Carlos Antonio Guerrero on an aggravated assault charge on Monday night.
Investigators told Action 4 News that that incident happened at the Rio Hondo Village apartment off South Reynolds Street.
Police said the Guerrero, the 11-year-old and other boys went fishing at the nearby Arroyo Colorado.
But Guerrero and the 11-year-old got into an argument where the young boy tried to leave.
Guerrero allegedly responded by grabbing a BB gun rifle and shooting the boy at least three times in the back.
The boy declined medical attention but police seized a blood-stained shirt as evidence.
Guerrero remained in custody at the Cameron County Jail late Tuesday morning.
