Rocky the Beaver to stay in his Edcouch canal home

Edcouch Public Works officials have found a way to allow 'Rocky The Beaver' to stay in his canal home after spending the past few weeks trying to catch him.

Public Works Director David Alaniz said the city purchased a wire cage that will keep Rocky out of an area where they fear his beaver dams could cause flooding.

The city spent thousand of dollars in trying to catch the animal.

They used traps and even drained the ditch, but Rocky continued to elude crews.

The City of Edcouch is selling 'Rocky The Beaver' $10 dollar T-shirts to recover the costs of trying to catch him and buying the wire cage.

Anyone interested in purchasing a T-shirt is asked to call City Hall at (956) 262-2140.
