Runoff for one of Brownsville's three city commission races

Elections are not over in the Rio Grande Valley TMs largest city where one race is headed to a runoff.

The four-way contest for the Brownsville City Commission District 3 race ended without a winner.

Candidates Deborah Portillo and Martin Sarkis will face each other in a runoff.

Portillo got 42.5 percent of the vote while Sarkis got 26.2 percent of the ballot.

Rosalio Leo Rosales got 26.1 percent of the ballot while Davide Belleperche got 5.1 percent of the vote.

The city TMs two other races ended with clear winners.

Incumbent John Villarreal kept the District 4 City Commission seat after getting 67.1 percent of the vote over challenger Letty Perez-Garzoria.

At Large Place B City Commissioner Rose Gowen also kept her seat after getting 58.5 percent of the vote over challenger Roberto Uresti.
