Safely pedal the streets this summer with tips from Bicycle World

Right now, thousands of Rio Grande Valley students are out for summer vacation. With so much free time on their hands, chances are, they'll go for a spin on their bicycles! But there are many hazards they face that could injure them if they don't make safety a top priority. This morning, Henry Roberts with Bicycle World has some safety tips for parents and their kids. He says, you should first and foremost wear safety gear. That includes a well fitted helmet and pads for your elbows and knees. Adjust your bicycle to your body making sure you have the right amount of space between your feet and the ground. Check equipment like tires and brakes, making sure they are properly inflated. See and be seen with reflectors on your bicycle and fluorescent colored clothing. And watch for road hazards like glass and puddles.
