San Benito man accused of molesting girl, peeking at her in shower

A 51-year-old San Benito man was arrested on Wednesday for molesting a teen girl.

Alfredo Garcia appeared in court on Thursday where he was issued a $75,000 bond by Cameron County Magistrate Judge Alfredo Cordova.

He was formally charged with Indecency with a Child by Exposure.

The Cameron County Sheriff TMs Department was notified about the abuse by a member of the victim TMs family.

The 14-year-old said that Garcia had been abusing her for almost three months.

Deputies contacted Child Protective Services (CPS), who then sat down with the girl at Monica TMs House Child Advocacy Center.

The teen said Mr. Garcia would go into her bedroom at night trying to touch her inappropriately, but she would try to prevent him from doing so by covering herself with a blanket.

She also told CPS that he would go into the restroom while she was showering and move the shower curtain to look at her.

The teen reported an instance when she was sitting next to him and he exposed his genitals to her.

She said she was scared to report what was going on because Garcia would threaten her.

Garcia has a criminal history dating back to 1990.

He has previously been arrested for criminal mischief, possession of marijuana and faced prohibited weapon charges.
