San Benito men jailed in marijuana mail case

Four Cameron County men are behind bars after they allegedly tried to send marijuana in packages one of them claimed was filled with crafts.
Cameron County Sheriff TMs Department deputies arrested the following four men on possession of marijuana and engaging in organized criminal activity charges:
- Eric Armendariz, 20
- Isai Contreras, 20
- Ramiro Garcia, 30
- Abraham Salinas, 40
Court records show deputies received a tip and had put the men under surveillance as part of an ongoing drug case.
The four men allegedly went mail a package at the Mail-Pak Shipping Center off South 77 Sunshine Strip in Harlingen.
Contreras allegedly told investigators the box was filled with crafts from Martinez Crafts but authorities discovered it had about 17 pounds of marijuana.
Deputies searched Salinas TM home at 20520 FM 800 where they allegedly found similar packages and another 55.8 pounds of marijuana.
The four men remain in custody at the Cameron County Jail.
