San Benito police arrest off-duty officer accused of driving while intoxicated

San Benito police officers arrested an off-duty officer accused of driving while intoxicated on Tuesday, according to a news release from the city of San Benito.
Jose Manuel Ledesma, 46, of San Benito was arrested and charged with burglary of habitation and driving while intoxicated, according to the news release.
San Benito police began investigating the case after they received a call from the 100 block of Cornejo Drive. The female caller stated Ledesma broke into her apartment and assaulted her, according to the news release.
San Benito police later found Ledesma driving while under the influence of alcohol, and arrested him, according to the news release.
San Benito police Chief Michael Galvan stated in the news release:
"“I am proud of those officers in making the right decisions and doing what they had to do in spite of their own personal feelings. I am proud that we have officers who are willing to demonstrate that degree of professionalism.
Ledezma has been placed on unpaid administrative leave and the citizens of San Benito can expect the internal investigation to be comprehensive in nature, with a focus on due process, and resulting in appropriate action."
Correction: The name of the off-duty San Benito police officer is Jose Manuel Ledesma, not Ledezma.
