San Benito superintendent booted before daughter's graduation

After two and a half hours, the San Benito school board reached a decision to suspend superintendent Antonio Limon.

Limon was placed on leave with pay after the board decided in executive session that he would be suspended.

However, the decision on the board was not unanimous.

Three board members opposed the decision to suspend Limon including Hector Leal, Oscar Medrano, and Anna Cruz.

The members who agreed to place Limon on leave with pay include June Aguilera, Fatima Huerta, Julian Huerta, and Yliana Gonzalez.

The special meeting was called with Limon TMs employment status as the only listed item on the agenda.

Political power on the school board shifted and since then Limon was given his first negative evaluation by the board.

The board stripped him of his purchasing power and reprimanded him several times.

The school board appointed an interim superintendent while they conduct an investigation into Limon.

Some board members said they are conducting an investigation, but Limon said there is no basis for an investigation to be conducted.

He previously stated that the split board wanted to get rid of him before his daughter TMs graduation next month.

Alfonso Obregon was appointed as the district TMs interim superintendent.

School board members say Obregon retired from Robstown ISD.

The school district TMs attorney will contact Obregon and offer him the interim position.

Limon had a year left as superintendent for San Benito CISD.
