San Benito woman speaks out on brother's stabbing

San Benito resident Bobbie Jo Leal said Monday, it was a close call for her 23-year-old brother.

He has open stab wounds to his stomach, chest and back - the painful outcome of an altercation Friday night.

Leal claims it was her son's best friend who attacked her brother.

"He started swinging at my brother, my brother hit him and they started fighting and he stabbed my brother three times, Leal said. The doctor told him that if he would've hit him straight, the knife would've gone straight forward and would've hit his lung in the back and also in the front."

San Benito Police have made no arrests and are still trying to determine if it was Leal's brother, the 21-year-old man they said he got in a fight with, or both who had knives.

The 21-year-old had a finger cut off, police said, but doctors were able to reattach it.

Leal also claims her family is getting threats by phone and on Facebook.

Police said if the family decided to press charges, who ever made those threats could be facing charges.

Leal said she just wants police to investigate and get the story right.

Apparently he cut his fingers with his own knife, Leal said about her brother TMs alleged attacker. I want him arrested - that's like trying to kill him."
