Sand crabs return to run SPI beach
This upcoming weekend, head to the island for a glowing experience as more than 1,500 runner will light up the South Padre Island beachfront for the Sand Crab Nighttime Beach Run.
Bill Gardner joined Action 4 Sunrise to elaborate more on the event.
This is the third year for this 5k and 10k running event. This is a great way to get a little exercise under the stars as well as enjoy a post-race barbecue while listening to live music.
Glow sticks and LED lights will outline the course for participants. Runners are required to run with a headlamp or flashlight.
For the first time, a one mile fun run will also be held for kids to enjoy! The kids run starts at 8 p.m. and all other runners and walkers start at 8:30 p.m.
If you aren't going to participate, cheer them on from any beach access between Tiki north and Harbor Street at the south end.
