A Schlitterbahn employee is off the job after being accused of molesting a teenage girl at the South Padre Island waterpark.
South Padre Island police arrested 17-year-old Daniel Eduardo Cardona on an indecency with a child charge on Friday.
Police officers were called out to the waterpark just after 1 p.m. Friday.
Schlitterbahn officials told police that they had just fired Cardona and wanted to issue a criminal trespass warning against him.
According to a police report, the officers learned Cardona had sexual contact with a child at the waterpark.
A spokeswoman for Schlitterbahn told Action 4 News that Cardona is accused of having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl who was a guest at the waterpark.
The spokeswoman said that another employee saw something suspicious, discovered what happened and reported the incident to supervisors.
Managers were able to find the girl TMs family, who were immediately made aware about what happened.
The spokeswoman said Cardona had only started working at Schlitterbahn this summer and is not believed to have had inappropriate contact with anyone else.
Cardona remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under a $15,000 bond.
