The U.S. Coast Guard hovered in the sky and seas, while constables combed the beach Thursday.
They all searched for two missing brothers.
Family members identified the missing brothers as Porter High School student Jose Jesus Bolado and his Daniel Bolado.
"At this time a young boy, a 12-year-old and an 18-year-old young man are still missing, said Cameron County Precinct One Constable Horacio Zamora.
The two took a swim Wednesday night, near the jetties at South Padre Island's Isla Blanca Park.
Their 22-year-old cousin Ivan Bolado went along with them and did not survive.
Officials said they pulled Bolado TMs body from the jetties.
He was flown to the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, where he was later pronounced dead.
Bolado's is believed to have drowned as the result of a strong rip tide brought on by an overnight cold front.
"The currents are really, really bad, and there's a rip tide out there, said Zamora. That tide takes you out."
Bolado TMs family told Action 4 News Ivan was a loving husband and father.
They said his baby turned 1-year-old on Thursday.
Family told Action 4 News they don TMt know why all three decided to go swimming.
Authorities said it's unlikely the brothers are alive.
"The next step is we try and recover the bodies, said Zamora. If they're recovered on the side or maybe on Boca Chica, it depends where the current takes them."
Family said they're holding on to hope the two will survive.
