Search still on for 5 kidnapping suspects

Police are continuing to look into several leads after the 38-year-old was kidnapped in Pharr.

Jose Rodriguez Jr. was outside talking to his friend who lived in a home on Cardinal Ave.

Minutes later, Rodriguez was forcefully taken by five men just after 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20th.

The suspected kidnappers grabbed the 38-year-old, put him in a red Dodge Durango, and fled the scene. "It's not fairly common. It's also not fairly uncommon being so close to the border. These things are beginning to pick up here in the valley unfortunately," Sgt. Mirabelle Garza with the Pharr Police Department said.

Authorities remain tight-lipped about their investigation.

"At this time were not releasing any other details. All the information were getting to protect our victim, until we get him safe were not going to release it," Sgt. Mirabelle Garza said.

Sgt. Garza said they have not spoken to the kidnappers, but they do believe that Rodriguez is alive.

Action 4 News went door to door in search of any other clues, and even spoke to the victim's family. However, due to threats, they would not speak on camera.

Now, Pharr police said they have reached out to federal agencies for assistance.

The kidnapping victim was last seen wearing a gray/blue Armani Exchange jacket and Armani Exchange blue jeans.
