Second arrest in MySpace impersonation case

Yomaira Zavala

Authorities have made a second arrest in a MySpace impersonation case from the Rio Grande Valley.

Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested 21-year-old Yomaira Zavala under an online harassment charge on Thursday.

Zavala is accused of conspiring with her boyfriend's sister to create a MySpace account to post nude pictures of one of Zavala's female relatives.

Court records released on Thursday show that Zavala's female relative used to date Zavala's boyfriend.

Zavala is accused taking her relative's cell phone and turning it over to 19-year-old Jacqueline Gomez.

Action 4 News first reported Gomez's arrest in the same case earlier this month.

Gomez is accused of taking nude pictures found on the cell phone belonging to Zavala's relative and posting them to a MySpace account.

The alleged victim in the case told deputies that the MySpace profile had her name, information and cell phone pictures, including the nude ones.

Sheriff TMs deputies were able to determine that the MySpace account was created from an IP address in Mission and with an email account belonging to Gomez.

Under state law, online harassment is a third-degree felony punishable up from two to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 dollar fine.
