Second look catches San Benito women smuggling heroin

Authorities are investigating two suspects that attempted to cross the Veteran TMs International Bridge CPB with packages of heroin.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) found almost $2 million worth of heroin hidden in Honda Pilot.

The vehicle was driven by a 21-year-old woman with a 28-year-old female passenger from San Benito.

CBP officers sent the Honda for a second search when the suspects were at the bridge.

Officers found eight packages with alleged heroin weighing almost 20 pounds hidden inside the vehicle.

CBP officers turned over the San Benito women to the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents, who are now investigating the case.
