Several jailed for selling prescription drugs at a Donna flea market

Deputies allege prescription medication was illegally being sold at a flea market in Donna.

Several people are behind bars after allegedly and illegally selling prescription medication at a flea market in Donna.

According to authorities, the raid happend at the Val Verde Flea Market off Old Business 83 around lunch time not the Don-West flea market.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevio told Action 4 News his deputies conducted the raid.

Sheriff Trevio reported that deputies seized prescription medication for sale at the flea market.

The sheriff said the undercover investigation started about one and a half months ago based on reports that "abortion pills" were being sold at local flea markets.

Deputies didn't find abortion pills but seized erectile dysfunction drugs like Viagra and diet pills like Redotex and the painkiller Tramadal.

Sheriff Trevio reported that deputies raided nine homes in connection to the investigation on Wednesday:

Vendors at flea markets in Donna, Alamo and Palmview are among four flea markets targeted by investigators.

Sheriff Trevio reported that a judge issued 11 arrest warrants in connection to the investigation.

Deputies had taken at least five people into custody as of 1 p.m. Wednesday.
