The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of the Rio Grande Valley.
According to an alert sent out, the watch has been issued for Brooks, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Kenedy, Starr and Zapata Counties.
The severe thunderstorm watch extends until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms.
Heavy downpours are possible in the six counties while conditions are favorable for large hail stones in parts of Zapata County.
Wind gusts up to 60 miles are possible in those areas.
People in the six counties are asked to be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and stay tuned for more information.
