Sex tapes land Mission man in jail

After a sex tape is uncovered, a Mission man is accused of raping a little girl for over two years.

Investigators said they were even horrified by what was found on tape.

Mission investigators said a Rio Grande City woman bought a video recorder at a pawn shop, and got the shock of her life.

She found a tape inside with child pornography and called the police.

Authorities identified the man in the video as Luis Andres Cardona.

After securing a search warrant, officers found even more sex tapes at his home.

Father of three, Cardona confessed to police that he was a family friend of the victim.

He allegedly started sexual contact with the young girl in 2008, and didn't stop until this year.

We had the opportunity to speak to Cardona before his arraignment.

"I put myself in God's hands. I hope the judge isn't too harsh on me," said Cardona.

Mission Police Sgt. Jody Tittle said it was difficult for investigators to go through the evidence.

"The video depicts eight different scenes that happened over a period of time. Anywhere between December '08,that's what the suspect told us, up until about three months ago, and he just had an edited video tape to where we you can clearly tell it's eight different dates," said Sgt. Tittle.

Police said each scene on the tape is just as graphic as the next, and without the help of the Rio Grande City woman, this case might have gone unreported.

Luis Cardona was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child and indecency with a child.

The judge set his bond at $2 million dollars.
