Share Your Christmas accepting donations of food and toys

Action 4 News and Navy Army Community Credit Union are preparing for kick-off the Valley's only live televised food and toy drives.

For the last eight year, the "Share Your Christmas" food and toy drive has brought smiles to families in need during the holiday season.

On Thursday, Action 4 News is asking you to get involved and make a donation.

The U.S. Marine Corps and the Food Bank RGV serve as distribution points.

The Food Bank RGV has served more than 2.5 million individuals in the Rio Grande Valley this year, and the year is not over.

Food Bank RGV Spokeswoman Rudy Martinez told Action 4 News they assist more than 39,000 weekly.

The U.S. Marine Corps said they have received request for more than 41,000 toys from area agencies and child programs.

Toys 4 Tots is a program that helps children have a Christmas, and not go through what I did when I was a child.

On Thursday, December 5th, we will be broadcasting live from H.E.B Plus! in Mission, H.E.B. on Parades Line in Brownsville, and from the KGBT studio in Harlingen:
