Sheriff TMs son charged with assault on public servant

John Carlos Trevino // McAllen Police Department

One of Sheriff Lupe Trevino's sons has found himself on the wrong side of the law.

Earlier today, John Carlos Trevino was booked and charged in McAllen.

The 36-year-old was arrested and charged with public intoxication, resisting transport, and assaulting a public servant.

According to the offense report filed with McAllen Police Department, Trevino was spotted on the 6600 block of 40th street knocking on doors just before 4 a.m.

His breath allegedly smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred, according to the reporting police officer.

The report stated the officer handcuffed him when Trevino asked if they knew who he was and refused to get into the patrol car.

Trevino was also charged with assault on a public servant for allegedly striking an officer in the booking area of the police department causing him to fall to the floor.

We reached out to Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino who said John Carlos Trevino TMs actions are not relevant nor are they a reflection of the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office.
