The call went out to all Hidalgo County deputies at 12:13 and a minute later two of those deputies were in hot pursuit of the alleged home invaders.
Suspects that weren't going down without a fight were masked and armed.
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said the two men involved in this home invasion knew what they were doing.
Even after chasing these suspects through the heavy brush that surrounds most of Bentsen Palm just north of Palmview and getting shot at numerous times, deputies didn't shoot back.
"They were really concerned about the close proximity of the houses around and they had a lot of restraint, said Hidalgo County Sheriff Trevino. They knew the other units would intercept them on the south side."
It was that interception that lead to one of the suspects getting shot.
"He made a motion that he would shoot our deputy. We discharged our weapon more than one time and hit the alleged home invader."
He later died.
As for the other suspect he was arrested a short while later and taken to the Hidalgo County Jail.
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said it's unfortunate how everything played out but he's confident that his deputies did everything they needed to do to keep themselves and the community safe.
"All of the deputies involved in this are going to be able to go home to their wives and families and that's what it's all about."
As for the victim in this whole ordeal, Sheriff Trevino said they did exactly what they were supposed to do. They got all the information down and called 9-1-1.
As of this time the identity of the suspect who was killed has not been released
