Authorities are asking motorists to expect delays while traveling through one of Pharr's busiest intersections.
A sinkhole formed off the northeast corner of East Nolana Avenue and the frontage road of U.S. Highway 281 on Wednesday afternoon.
Pharr City spokesman Gary Rodriguez told Action 4 News that a manhole collapsed creating a hole that is believed to be at least eight to ten feet deep.
Rodriguez said work crews have blocked off the lane to keep traffic away from the sinkhole.
A contractor is expected to start work on repairing the sinkhole starting on Wednesday evening but the work could continue through Thursday morning.
Motorists are asked to expect some delays while traveling through the area.
