Six killed in high speed chase identified

Texas Department of Public Safety is releasing few details regarding a horrific crash has left six people dead, including several children.

According to reports, 18-year-old Hector Ramirez from Roma stole an F250 from a person in Alton.

The alleged truck theft later led a DPS Trooper on a high speed chase on Monday hitting three vehicles at the intersection of FM 2221 and Western Road near Mission.

DPS Sgt. Maria Hernandez said "Ramirez entered the intersection of FM 2221 and Western Road, striking other vehicles".

Sgt. Hernandez told Action 4 News Ramirez will face criminal charges once he is released from the hospital.

Six people were killed and several other were injured.

Autopsies have been ordered on the deceased, and funeral arrangements are pending.

The driver of the stolen truck fled the scene, but was later arrested by the DPS Trooper.

Ramirez was transported to a hospital, but it is unknown when criminal charges will be filed against him.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is not conducting any interviews on this case at this time.
