Two young parents are facing criminal charges after they allegedly smoked marijuana in front of their 4-month-old baby boy.
Harlingen police arrested 23-year-old Carlos Perez and 22-year-old Crystal Calvo on child endangerment charges early Sunday morning.
Investigators told Action 4 News that a witness at the Valley Baptist Medical Center flagged down a passing police officer to report that the couple was doing drugs in their car.
The officer found their silver Ford Escape near the emergency room entrance.
Police reported that both Perez and Calvo had been smoking marijuana in their car and in front of their 4-month-old boy.
Officers notified Child Protective Services and then turned the child over to the custody of his grandmother.
Both Perez and Calvo appeared before a Harlingen Municipal Judge on Monday morning where they were each issued $10,000 dollar bonds.
