Three people are behind bars after they allegedly smoked marijuana and had more than a pound of it inside a Southmost home with a baby.
Cameron County Sheriff TMs Department deputies reported that the arrests took place off Monte Bello Circle on Monday morning.
Deputies arrested Creasent Ramirez, Jose Guerrero and Europides Suarez during the incident.
The deputies went to their home for a welfare concern and to look for Miguel Angel Vela after he failed to appear in court for a misdemeanor marijuana charge.
Court records show that deputies noticed the odor of burnt marijuana in the air when Ramirez and Guerrero answered the door.
Deputies found more than a pound of marijuana in the home and learned that Suarez had bongs and pipes but flushed several half-smoked marijuana cigarettes down the toilet .
The records show that Ramirez and Guerrero had their infant inside the home.
Ramirez, Guerrero and Suarez were all charged with child endangerment but deputies also charged Suarez with tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana.
Jail records show that deputies later found Vela after a brief foot chase and struggle with officers.
All four of them remained in custody at the Cameron County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon.
