An alleged drug smuggler thought he could conceal his load after he piled bundles of hay on top of the marijuana he was smuggling, but Rio Grande City police saw right through him.
Police told Action 4 News, after a two-mile chase through the street of Rio Grande City and the smuggler almost losing control when his trailer nearly jackknifed in the middle of the road, the smuggler decided to abandon the 2,000 pounds he was carrying.
It was a move, police said, could cost the smuggler more than he bargained for.
"We don't know what is going to happen to him. That was a big load. Rio Grande City Police Chief Dutch Piper said.
Chief Piper estimates the load to be worth about $2-million dollars.
