Snapping a pic can alert criminals where you are

The seemingly innocent pictures that you take on your smartphone could reveal more than you think. The problem comes when these snapshots are loaded online and embedded location information on the photos is seen on social media that could pin point where you are. This could actually pose a risk to you or your kids. This new way of obtaining information is especially scary as children begin to take part in social media at a younger age and post lackadaisical images.Wednesday morning we invited Dr. Jerald Hughes a professor of cyber security with the University of Texas Pan American to give us more in depth information on how to safeguard your mobile device.Dr. Hughes said that the most important thing people can do is to turn off the location services on your smartphone for your camera.
