Soldiers shut down Matamoros marijuana grow house

Authorities seized more than 400 marijuana plants following a brief gun battle in Matamoros.

It all happened in the Fraccionamiento Victoria late Thursday night.

A regional office for Mexico's Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) confirmed the incident.

SEDENA officials said soldiers were out on patrol in the neighborhood when they came under fire.

The gunmen fled the scene leaving a building abandoned.

Soldiers found some 408 marijuana plants of varying heights inside the building and property.

No arrests have been made but the plants were turned over to authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
