South Padre Island officials are handing out sandbags ahead of Tropical Storm Ingrid.
The tropical storm is brewing hundreds of miles to the south along the Mexican coast.
But South Padre Island officials are preparing.
County leaders shut down Beach Access 5 and Beach Access 6.
South Padre Island residents and business owners may pick up sandbags at sandbags may also be picked up at the Fire Station on 106 W. Retama St.
Individuals should have a drivers license or identification.
Residents will receive five sandbags while businesses can receive 10.
