South Padre Island officials consider new parking ordinances

South Padre Island officials are holding hold a public hearing late Wednesday afternoon to discuss controversial changes to parking ordinances at the popular tourist destination.
City officials said the purpose of the hearing is to gather comments from the public related to parking.
The hearing starts at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and will feature an open comment period where citizens and business owners are encouraged to provide input for use in developing parking solutions.
Topics for which the City is soliciting input include, but are not limited to:
Street parking Beach access parking Bay access parking Parking enforcement Overnight parking / overnight parking restrictions Convention center remote parking Paid parking Free parking Any other parking related issue or topic citizens wish to discuss
All interested citizens are invited to attend this Public Hearing and provide input to assist in developing parking solutions.
This meeting will be streamed LIVE via the "Meetings on Demand" link on the City of South Padre Island website or can be viewed on the archives after the meeting.
Written comments submitted after the Public Hearing must be hand-delivered or postmarked on or before 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July, 24, 2013.
