A Southmost man is sobering up behind bars after an alleged drinking binge ended with deputies chasing him to his house.
Cameron County Sheriff TMs Department deputies arrested 43-year-old Guillermo Ureste Guillen early Monday morning.
Court records show Guillen was speeding 47 mph in a 30 mph zone off Esperanza Street and Southmost Road around 2:29 a.m. Monday.
Deputies reported that Guillen as at a stop light but refused to pull over leading deputies through several streets.
The chases ended at Guillen TMs home on Jovan Circle where the deputy learned Guillen had been drinking.
Guillen allegedly told the deputy he drank a 12 pack of beer of beer by himself and then went to a friend TMs house to drink more.
When asked why he didn TMt stop, Guillen said he just wanted to go home.
Guillen appeared before a Cameron County Magistrate Court judge on Monday morning where he was issued a $5,000 bond for evading arrest and a $400 fine for public intoxication.
