Spoiled food, blood drippings from chicken into oysters at dirty restaurant

Shoot for the Stars on 1303 East Business 83 in Donna and hungry patrons will land at a drive-in with zero demerits on a health report.

"How does it make you feel knowing that you're keeping it clean?" Action 4's Ryan Wolf asked a staff member.

"Good," Priscilla Vasquez said. "It makes us feel good because a lot of people think that we don't but we can make it!"

This isn't the first top performer sticker to be awarded there by the Food Patrol.

Vasquez, whose mother is the manager, says the whole staff works hard to ensure kitchen cleanliness.

She wants their newest sticker to signify this: "That you can come and we're really clean and we give out great food!"

A Sonic Drive-In and McDonald's restaurant have more than just burgers and fries in common.

      They also have roaches!

Mickey D's on 1144 Business 77 in San Benito is busted with the insect contamination as part of a 15 demerit health inspection score.

Live roaches are in the dry storage area with cups and dipping sauce packaging, according to the inspector.

Over at the Sonic on 1206 Morgan Boulevard in Harlingen, roaches turn up on the kitchen walls as part of a 6 demerit health inspection score in May.

A corporate spokesperson admits they shouldn't be there.

Patrick Lenow, vice president of public relations for Sonic, sent this statement to the Food Patrol:

The issues identified in this inspection do not meet the our expectations or the expectations of our franchise owner or our customers. This is an isolated issue. Immediate corrective action was taken by our franchise owner along with additional measures to prevent such an incident in the future.

Mariscos Del Mar on 2017 West Expressway 83 in Weslaco is the dirtiest this week with 30 demerits as a low performer.

A kitchen cop says he exposes a spoiled fish plate, off-temperature fajita, chicken blood dripping into a box of oysters in the refrigerator, no towels in the men's restroom for proper sanitation and dirty utensils.

The Food Patrol wants to know if things have been cleaned up. But management isn't around for a comment Wednesday afternoon.

You know what the Food Patrol says to that--"Keep it clean!"
