Standoff following home invasion lands three men behind bars

A standoff in Saturday afternoon caused police to block off a neighborhood in South Palmview.
Police there told us two suspects are in custody after barricading themselves at a home for hours.It happened on PTJ street located between Abrams and Silver Spur.
Action 4 News was first on the scene.
Palmview police said the ordeal first started with a home invasion south of Showers Road on Boganvillia.
Then the two suspects barricaded themselves inside their own home just a few streets away.
Officers told Action 4 News the victim of the home invasion called them after two men broke into her home Saturday.
"The homeowner described the suspects trying to come into her residence and subsequently fired some rounds of a handgun to protect her property," said Lt. Saul Uvalle of the Palmview Police Department
It appeared to scare off the intruders.
Witnesses told police they fled into this nearby neighborhood.
"For officer safety we went ahead and activated the San Juan LEER team, which is a SWAT team-the regional SWAT team assigned to this area," said Lt. Uvalle.
According to police, the two suspects live in the residence.
They add that while the two men, Lucas and Jesus Ortiz, barricaded themselves inside the house- family members were cooperative with authorities.
"At points [the suspects] did open the door would come out and taunt police to come and get them," recalled Lt. Uvalle.
Investigators believe Lucas and Jesus Ortiz called a friend to pick them up after the home invasion, but their getaway driver was quickly apprehended by officers, who were surveying the area.
There's a total of three people were taken into custody.
They are all currently being questioned by Palmview police as it is still an ongoing investigation.
While it is still unclear what charges these two suspects will face, police said the alleged getaway driver is also facing unrelated charges on another case.Click here to follow Ashly Custer on Twitter
