Three Weslaco teens are facing criminal charges after they allegedly attacked a police officer and repeatedly punched a pastor.
Weslaco Police Chief Michael Kelley told Action 4 News that an officer was trying to detain two teens who tagged graffiti on a building.
Police reports state the two teens ran inside a Starbucks to hide, but got busted.
The officer said the two teens became unruly in the popular coffee shop and began pushing and punching him.
A pastor in the store decided to assist the officer and a third teen joined the two and began repeatedly punching the man.
Reports indicate the scuffle moved outside of the business where a truck driver who also tried to help was attacked by one of the suspects.
Police manage to arrest all three teens, but since they are juveniles they are not in a detention center.
Chief Kelley said one of the teens is facing interfering with public duties and resisting arrest charges while the other two are charged with assault.
The case remains under investigation.
