Some Alamo school children received a special treat Monday.
Students at North Alamo Elementary attended a reading party at the school's library.
Parents were also invited to enjoy a good book with their kids.
Parents said the reading program, which is hosted every Monday afternoon, is proving to be very effective.
"I think it is very important to this school because, as you can see, it helps kids out a lot with their self-esteem on learning how to read and in their tests and how they do in their facts," explained Josie Paloma. "So, it helps out a lot."
School officials believe the program encourages children and their parents to be life-long readers.
