Stylists remember beloved co-worker killed in weekend crash

Days after a head-on collision killed five people in Los Fresnos, co-workers of one of the victims are finding strength to continue work.
It's a sad day for our business, for our salon. We did lose somebody important," Dinah Rodriguez said.
Erika Davila worked at the Dillard TMs salon in La Plaza Mall for ten years.
Longtime customer of Davila, Vicky Aikman, was heading to Dillard TMs Monday morning for her appointment when she got the tragic news.
I was thinking they were calling to see if I was on my way, unfortunately it was the manager with not only bad news, but it kept getting worse and worse, Aikman said.
Aikman had developed a bond with Davila. She went twice a week to have her hair washed and styled.
She was thrilled about her family, her young girl, her husband, Aikman said. They were young people who were dedicated to what they did and they were going to do well.
Davila, her husband, daughter and niece were killed in the crash as they headed to the beach Sunday morning.
Her work station has become a memorial full of flowers, pictures and ribbon.
Dinah Rodriguez worked alongside Davila for five years.
She really had high expectations of her work and of those around her, Rodriguez said.
Today Rodriguez styled Aikmans hair. It was the first time another stylist touched Aikmans hair in two years.
Those are shoes that are very hard to fill, Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez and other stylist are working on several of Davila TMs clients, but they say she can never be replaced.
"People like Erika are hard to replace, beautiful people, not just on the outside but she was a beautiful person and she was somebody that didn't demand respect she earned it, Rodriguez said.
The salon will be hosting a Cut-A-Thon July 14th from 12-6 p.m. at the salon inside Dillard TMs at La Plaza Mall. Donations will go to Davila TMs family to help with funeral costs.
