A man out on parole for capital murder is back behind bars after shooting a man in Mercedes.
Mercedes police arrested 27-year-old Orlando Muoz on an aggravated assault charge early Wednesday morning.
Muoz is accused of ambushing a car carrying three people and shooting at it at least eight times.
One of the three people in the car was hit in the arm.
The others hid in an underground pipe to shield themselves from bullets.
But Mercedes Police Chief Olga Maldonado said Muoz didn TMt act alone.
Investigators believe Muoz was the passenger of a car when he opened fire.
Police are still looking to arrest the driver.
A motive is not clear but police said Muoz knew the victim.
Court records show that Muoz was sentenced to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to capital murder back in 2004.
But Muoz was released early and put on parole where he lived at a home off Mile 2 East in Mercedes.
