Suspect arrested months after Amigoland drug chase

A Brownsville man is behind bars months after he lead authorities on a drug chase near the Amigoland Mall and swam to Mexico.

Cameron County Sheriff TMs Department deputies arrested 40-year-old David Pardo on Tuesday.

Court records show that Pardo is the suspect in a November 1st, 2011 chase that ended near Brownsville TMs B&M International Bridge.

Authorities found 66 pounds of marijuana inside his SUV and watched as Pardo fled into Mexico.

The records show that Pardo had been under surveillance by deputies investigating a drug tip but sped off after being pulled over for a traffic violation near Boca Chica and Palm Boulevards.

Details about how Pardo was arrested were not immediately available but he TMs been charged with possession of marijuana and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.

Pardo remains in custody under $45,000 dollars in bonds and an immigration detainer.
