Suspect with handgun robs San Benito store near elementary school

      A San Benito Elementary school was placed on lockdown Friday morning as San Benito police were looking for an armed robbery suspect.

      Sullivan Elementary School is located a couple blocks from Jimmy TMs Groceries

      The suspect, a Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20 TMs, went into Jimmy TMs Groceries on Wentz Street with a handgun.

      According to officers, a female clerk asked him if he needed help finding something then the suspect pointed a gun towards her demanding money.

      Police said clerk was shaken up and emotional after the hold up, but no one was injured in the robbery.

      One person was detained for questioning, but no arrests were made.

      San Benito PD is reviewing surveillance videos from the store and asks anyone with information to call police at (956) 361-3880.
