Suspected murderer caught swimming across Rio Grande

Fri, 01 Feb 2013 14:46:38 GMT — A suspected murderer wanted in Travis County has been captured along the U.S./Mexico border.U.S. Marshals Lonestar Task Force confirms Roy Rogers Soliz was captured on a warrant in Cameron County Thursday.Sources told Action 4 News U.S. Border Patrol agents station in the Brownsville sector spotted a man swimming across the Rio Grande from Mexico to the United States and quickly apprehended him.On Thursday night, authorities confirmed the man's identity, and learned a warrant was issued for the 58-year-old Pflugerville man on homicide charges.Soliz is accused of shooting 38-year-old Christopher Carson in Austin back in January.Carson was rushed to a local hospital where he later died.The Travis County Sheriff's Department called the shooting a "random act of violence" and consider Soliz "dangerous."Soliz is being detained at Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito.
