Three men are facing criminal charges after they were targeting practicing with guns near a Brownsville high school.

It all happened off Vasquez Ranch Road near Brownsville TMs Veterans Memorial High School around 6:38 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were called to the area after receiving reports of gunfire.

Police officers found Carlos Robles, Mauricio Guardiola, Jose Luna and a juvenile with two shotguns and three handguns.

The four claimed they were target practicing but officers learned they were firing within city limits.

Robles, Guardiola and Luna were charged with discharging a firearm within city limits charges while the juvenile was released to his mother.

The three men appeared before a Brownsville municipal judge on Friday morning where they each received $5,000 dollar bonds.

Many concerned parents had reached out to Action 4 News about the incident on Thursday evening.

One parent said her daughter was playing softball outside the high school when they heard gunfire.

Other parents said they were very concerned about the incident after what happened at Edinburg TMs Harwell Middle School back in December where two students were shot by hunters doing target practice on a neighboring ranch.
