Suspects in Alamo manhunt identified

Authorities set a perimeter while they tracked down and arrested a weapons trafficking suspect in north Alamo.

Three men are charged in a scheme to smuggle guns and ammo into Mexico.

Alamo Police arrested Mexican Nationals Jose Huerta Castillo, Oscar Huerta Castillo and Juan Baez Gonzalez after a tip that the men were taking guns across the border.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF)agents arrested the Castillo brothers and Gonzalez after a manhunt in Alamo Wednesday afternoon.

ATF spokeswoman Franceska Perot said agents were investigating a firearms trafficking group.

Authorities put the perimeter for the manhunt along Tower Road between Sioux and El Dora.

The Mexican Nationals attempted to smuggle guns that included AK-47s and ammunition that was found in a truck and home.

The three men remain in custody after appearing before Magistrate Peter Ormsby.

A bond for each man was denied.

The Castillo brothers and Gonzalez will be in court next Tuesday.
