A Cameron County woman is facing criminal charges after being arrested for filling a series of suspicious prescriptions over the past few months.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Regulatory Crime Service agents arrested 32-year-old Dena Claire Garey on Wednesday.
Court records show that Garey is accused of getting multiple prescriptions for hydrocodone starting back in September.
Investigators believe Garey went those months going to different doctors every couple of weeks to get prescriptions.
Garey allegedly filled the prescriptions at different pharmacies in Brownsville and San Benito but one of them alerted a doctor triggering an investigation.
DPS agents filed two fraud charges against Garey.
Garey appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Judge Alfredo Padilla where she was issued $20,000 dollars in personal recognizance bonds.
