Task force officers involved in drug corruption scheme face judge

Three men await their hearing at the McAllen Federal Courthouse on Friday morning.

Jonathan Trevino, Fabian Rodriguez and Gerado Duran are allegedly involved in a corruption scheme involving protecting drug stashes.

Trevino, son of Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino, was taken into custody on Wednesday night and Rodriguez and Duran were arrested on Thursday.

They were all a part of a task force known as the Panama Unit, a task force created for narcotic busts and seizures.

Fellow task force officer Alexis Espinoza was arraigned on Thursday.

He admitted to participating in the drug scheme and was issued a $100,000 bond.

The three men will go before the judge tentatively at 11 a.m.
