Teen arrested for Lopez High School bomb threat
A 17-year-old was charged with Terroristic Threat after he was linked to a suspicious package found on a Brownsville campus.
Police arrested Jose Angel Gallegos on Wednesday.
Students and staff at Lopez High School were evacuated on April 19 when the package, that had smoke coming out of it, was found in the cafeteria.
School District Police Chief Oscar Garcia confirmed that authorities found a non-explosive device made up of firework powder and wax that was compressed in a plastic casing.
The teen faces up to a year in prison and/or a $4,000 fine.
